Knockmealdowns October 9th.

Another day wandering the mountains of Ireland eh! We assembled at the school at the usual time of 8.00am and as per usual we had an abundance of second and third years. Though we had two busses filled with climbers there were still some Larger than life absences most notably Nano who was attacked by an angry pack of Polish men the night before, after he played run away knock on them. Our thoughts and prayers go out to that brave boy.
With grey clouds looming overhead we headed for the Knockmealdowns (I can't spell) after two quick stop offs for some munch we were at the bottom of the mountain and rearing to go. In typical Spioraid Naoimh fashion it was wet, cold and windy and Doc who graced us with his presence was in his element. I however was not.

So after maybe twenty minutes of climbing we were high up and the wind was tearing into us and worst of all the chicken soup I brought with me was cold. After a quick stop and group huddle Mr. Crammer and Barry decided the best way forward was down. So we descended down with second years disappearing into hidden holes all around us.

We heard stories of Barrie's autobiography and Whelan even had the nerve to insult the Rolling Stones in front of me. I offered people custard creams if they dared drink my cold chicken soup concotion, only Kausser took me up on it and it resulted in his bowels feeling under par the next day. However the most dramatic moment of the climb had to be Flaherty shoving a stick in Dan's eye. Every thing was quickly put right and we headed down.

After a quick stop off in Mitchelstown we headed home on a sing song less bus. What is the future of the sing song after Flood leaves us.Im praying for a miracle. So as a whole it was one's average CSN climb wet, cold with its moment of drama but would you have it any other way?
